Yesterday we went to check out The Trout Farm on Zayante Road
because I had heard that folks could cross a bridge over the creek
to catch fish in the pond and the restaurant would cook it up for you.
So we drove there for a beer and were just looking around out on
the deck and imagining how sweet it must have been in it's day.
The pond has been drained, and the place is run down, bu I'm told
it's under new ownership and they're fixing it up. It even has a huge
swimming pool right off the bar area.
While we were hanging out, about sixty old, Hell's Angels guys file
into the place for a wake for their buddy Tattoo Joe.
They raised their glasses in a toast, and everyone joined in:
"To sticky fingers, slippery thighs, and no sloppy seconds!"
. . . it was a David Lynch moment.
I would LOVE to know about the history of this place!

Mon, January 23, 2006 - 1:59 PMI heard it was quite the "psychedelic" hang out in the 60's and 70's. -

Tue, January 31, 2006 - 5:43 PMWow... I guess that shows how little I know about Santa Cruz and Felton.
I was very young when the Earthquake hit, so my only memories are of the "modern" Pacific Avenue. I suspect I am missing out on a lot of the nuances of local history. Are there particularly good books out there? Where should I start checking things out?

I was confusing that with another venue called Club Zayante.
You can read about that place here:
