Anyone living in or interested in the Skyland area? My husband and I own some land up there that was owned in the late 1800s by Charles H. Allen, the first principal of the San Jose Normal School (now SJSU).

You might already know this, but the map room in the Science and Engineering library at UCSC has a gazillion old maps of this area. We were able to find at least ten.

Skyland Road (off of Summit) was once called "Slaughter Road," and Adams Road (where we are) was once called "Yonoco Road." I'm really interested in knowing the origin of these names, especially "Yonoco."
